LED Bicycle Light DIY (Do It Yourself)

Here is a homemade LED bicycle light that is also high-performance.  It is a modified mini maglite led 2-cell AA that has twice the brightness of the normal maglite, and a rechargeable battery that maintains full power for hours.  The battery is no longer inside the maglite.  The battery is now in the bicycle's water bottle and a LED light engine is inside the maglite in place of the batteries.  The weather-proofing, optics, and thermal design are similar to the original maglite, and it uses the 1A (Amp) Lumileds Luxeon III LED from the stock maglite.

Barbecue Punch List

Here is everything you need to have a poolside lunch-time barbecue for fifteen of your friends.  The menu consists of steak sandwiches, plus fruits, vegetables, and some vegetarian.  NOTHING IN GLASS CONTAINERS! 

Drinks:

• beer (six pack)
• bottled water (six pack +)
• diet coke (six pack)
• mixed Hansen sodas (six pack)

Non-Food:

• paper towels
• hand soap and hand towels for the restroom
• plates, utensils, cups
• trash bags
• squirt bottle (helps when barbecue flames up)
• knives
• spatula, tongs, serving spoons
• cutting board (one for meat and one for veggies/fruit)
• matches, fluid, charcoal, propane, both types of grills
• plastic bowls (to store the prepped veggies, fruit, and marinated meat)
• ice
• hand broom and dust pan (for emergency)
• electric fry pan with extension cord (for warming - keep safe)
• extra table if necessary
• large cooler  (~100 quart)

Food: 

• veggie burger variety from Trader Joe's (two boxes total)
• bread (four baguettes from Panera Bakery, cut into thirds and opened to use as buns)
• hamburger buns (Trader Joe's)
• salt and pepper
• boneless thin cut rib eye steaks (5 lbs, marinated in Italian salad dressing)
• lettuce (one large head)
• white onions (7.5 lbs., grilled, seriously, people love these)
• celery (one stock prep cut)
• carrots (2 lbs. prep cut)
• tomatoes (3 lbs. sliced)
• strawberries (4 bins, cut into large pieces)
• peaches (3 lbs.)
• ketchup and mustard

Logistics:

• map
• cell phone
• access to lunch/pool area (keys, block or tie gates open - keep safe)
• camera or someone to take pictures
• list of attendees

Robert Randolph Rocks SJSU Fountain Blues Festival!

ManJoseman saw headline act Robert Randolph and the Family Band front row at the 30th annual Metro Fountain Blues Festival, presented by San Jose State University.  The show on May 8, 2010 was another example of the amazing talent this event attracts every year.  Here are some pics:

Zac Brown "Southern Fries" San Jose State Event Center

ManJoseman attended the Zac Brown Band concert on March 10 at the SJSU Event Center.  The sound, lights, video, song list,  and performance were amazing, and the crowd appeared to be a sell-out.  Here is the man:

A New Film Where Family Trumps Romance

ManJoseman went to the world premier screening of "Gabi on the Roof in July" at the 2010 San Jose Cinequest film festival. Director/Actor Lawrence Michael Levine and Director/Producer/Actor Sophia Takal introduced the film, and other members of the production were in the audience.  An amazing comedy film.  Here is some of the promotional literature from the event:
