Here is a homemade LED bicycle light that is also high-performance. It is a modified mini maglite led 2-cell AA that has twice the brightness of the normal maglite, and a rechargeable battery that maintains full power for hours. The battery is no longer inside the maglite. The battery is now in the bicycle's water bottle and a LED light engine is inside the maglite in place of the batteries. The weather-proofing, optics, and thermal design are similar to the original maglite, and it uses the 1A (Amp) Lumileds Luxeon III LED from the stock maglite.
